Risk
Debtor-payment risk: what invoice investors should evaluate
Payment delays, evidence quality, concentration, and factors investors may consider.
Why the debtor matters
The debtor is expected to pay the receivable at maturity, so its financial capacity, payment behaviour and relationship to the issuer materially affect risk.
Payment delay versus default
A late payment can extend the holding period and reduce realised annualised return. A default or valid dispute may cause a partial or total loss.
Supporting evidence and enforceability
Investors should consider whether invoice, contract, delivery evidence and approval records consistently establish the obligation. Verification does not guarantee enforceability.
Concentration and maturity
Exposure to one debtor, sector or maturity period can amplify losses and liquidity pressure. Portfolio review should consider concentration alongside yield.
Risk categories do not eliminate loss
A platform classification summarises reviewed information at a point in time. Conditions can change, information can be incomplete, and investors remain responsible for their decisions.
